Babymoon!

We were blessed with the incredible opportunity to get away for our 3rd Anniversary in which we entitled "Babymoon". It was our last vacation with just the two of us.

Here are some pictures of that delightful time together!

This is where I found my hubby the first morning we were there--I love His passion for the Word.

First walk out on the beach. Some think we're crazy for going to the beach in December--us--it was so quiet and peaceful--it was perfect!

December 15th-Our 3rd Anniversary Dinner. Some may call me a seafood snob as I only eat seafood on the coast and not at chain restaurants....and this place was amazing!

It was a beautiful few days together and we're so grateful for the blessing of being able to get away. I could not think of a better way to spend our last vacation together as a family of two!

Sharing Life

Saturday was a special day for me. We had weddings to attend--not just one, but two. I've done a wedding and a funeral in one day before (on opposite sides of the state mind you) but I've never done two weddings in one day. It was a long day, but I would do it all over again.

Robert, being the good husband that he is, decided that to do what we normally would have done pre-pregnant Kristin (leave Saturday morning and drive back Saturday night) was just too much. So he made hotel reservations for Friday night in the town of the first wedding, so we could take it easy Saturday morning (and so glad we did...by the time we were almost half way to our destination we got report that there was sleet in Atlanta!!!) He also made me "officially" (meaning submit paperwork and everything) take Sunday off so that we didn't have to drive back to the ATL in the wee hours of the night when wedding number two was complete. He really is too good to me.

Friday we had a good restful evening in Vidalia--Robert drove me around and showed me the home he spent his childhood years in, showed me where his kindergarden graduation was (and where Robert as Rambo made his appearance). We found the mexican restaurant in town (of course!), got blizzards from the local dairy queen and enjoyed some good quality time together (which was needed!).

We had a restful Saturday morning before heading to wedding number one of the day that was at noon.

Brian Winter was the groom. Brian holds a very special place in my heart. I've had the privilege of watching him as a young man in his early years of high school uncertain of this man Jesus to whole heartedly giving his life to Him.

With high school graduation came moving onto college and learning what it meant to be rooted in prayer and cry out on behalf of a campus. College graduation brought the pursuit of God's will for His life and the full time calling into ministry seemed the road he was to follow. A Youth Minister is now his calling and now as of Saturday, a husband.

Brian, I couldn't be more proud of you. Thank you for letting me share life with you and watch you grow into the incredible man that you are. To watch two believers make a covenant with their Beloved Jesus to love one another forever and ever is an honor. Thank you for letting us be a part of your special day. God is going to use the two of you mightily in His Kingdom. We are blessed because of you. And welcome to the family Amanda!

Up next was I-16 towards good ole SAV. It was to be a ladies night at the next wedding, so to my parent's house we went to drop off Robert for a night of football with his in-laws. I then headed to one of my all time favorite places on this planet--downtown Savannah. The mother of the groom is one of my best friends in all of this world. I've written about her before and I still can't put all my feelings about this woman into one post (and yes you have to go read that post, because I just did and am balling all over again).

Heidi, thank you for letting me be a part of your families special night. It was an honor to be there and watch you be a beautiful mother of the groom. I tried harder than anything to hold back the tears in your special dance, but finally had to give in. You are a special woman. You are one of God's most precious gifts to me and I love more than anything sharing life with you. My heart still breaks that I no longer get to run the streets with you on a daily basis, but your life encourages me to not give in to the ordinary. I love you my Heidi-Ho. Coffee date in two weeks? And maybe we can get our hands on another box of bananas. :)

A little teaser...

Don't think I've forgotten about sharing Memorial Day with you...but I must say, with Memorial Day--it means Summer officially started--which we all know what that means if you are in Youth Ministry--on that note, just got home from a camping trip with our juniors and seniors. It was successful--only ONE encounter with a snake :) well one real one, a few with a fake one :) But not gonna lie, I'm really, really looking forward to Monday--which will be a day off--the first one in 9 days...

But for now, here's a few pics of my little man from our visit home during Memorial Day--Robert and I had the privilege of keeping him for a little bit one afternoon and we got to spend some quality time with him and his parents on a few occasions on this visit home--much needed!

Finally on our last day there---the SUN came out and we got some sunshine and River got some action in the hot tub --don't worry--we turned it down to a "warm" pool temperature! :)

Okay, we'll post more later--pray for us if you think of it! We have Summer Camp counselor training tomorrow following church. I've ordered 20 pounds of bbq to feed everyone--I really feel like some things never change in my life! :) And one more picture..taken the other evening at our first Wednesday Night Youth of the Summer...think Cory and I are ready for summer? Or have we lost our minds already? :)

Just thought I'd share...

Just thought I'd share a few pictures of a trip we took last month to Birmingham. Right now Amelia and I are just hanging out in the living room enjoying a rainy Tuesday afternoon. Funny how I complained about the rain all weekend while we were in Richmond Hill, but for right now, in this very moment, I am grateful for a lazy afternoon with the rain falling outside. I know I should be doing something--like cleaning the house that looks like a tornado came through it thanks to our suitcases, but I just want to sit still. (Don't worry--I do have a load of laundry going and the dish washer going, so this isn't a completely still moment).

I have lots to blog about from this past weekend, but before I make an effort to find the cord to the camera to have pictures to blog about, I thought I'd share a few fun pics from Birmingham. Thanks for sharing life with us!

Here we go:

We started our day by discovering this really cool coffee shop downtown called Safari Cup.

After we took this picture we realized it was probably rude to have our feet up on the coffee table. Oops.. But the little spot provided the perfect spot to read the Word together and start our day.

Yep, feet still on the table, but I fell in love with these things:

The are called Cool Corc and you can see there website here. I thought it was so neat that I kept mine, cut it and made it into a bookmark that is now in my Bible. I know, I'm a dork.

Down the street we discovered this beautiful church---that we took lots of pics of, but I'll just share one that Robert took...

Our goal on our little trips is to always go to the places we can't go at home--which causes an adventure and stumbling upon places such as Safari Cup, but we were on the hunt for this place thanks to the suggestion from our friends Daniel & Taylor who just moved from Birmingham to come on staff at RiverStone. It's called the Urban Standard. If you are ever in Birmingham, you must go---and if you are there on June 5th you have to go because our friend Daniel is playing there. Here's a pic from inside:

Robert looks thrilled---but the point of this picture was the medal looking thingys hanging from the curtain behind him---I had some vivid flashbacks from my childhood sitting here. They were all from Europe--and they were the exact type medals I got when I was a kid living in Germany when we use to go on walks/marches and get medals--I know random, but cool flashback! I immediately called mom and asked if we still had my medals and she said, yes that they were in the attic and asked if I wanted them. I said, sure. Not sure what I'm going to do with them. Maybe I should get a big burlap curtain like they did and hang them :) I'm sure that will look nice in the new house, don't you think so??? :)

The next day we headed back downtown and took a few more pictures and ate at Newks thanks to the recommendation of Robert's Aunt and Uncle that so graciously allowed us to stay with them for the weekend.

We then headed to the Botanical Gardens. Absolutely perfect Saturday afternoon together! We enjoyed strolling through, stopping and talking and having some fun with our camera:
