Quality Time...good for the heart

For those of you that know me....quality time is my number one love language.

Considering Robert hasn't been to Savannah since August and I had a blink of an eye trip in September...today was really good for the ole heart.

We got to love on this little one...


Aniston is getting so big!!!  She now has 4 teeth....


and is standing up on her own!


Spent some time with our nephew Forest (can you find Robert?)


We got to love on our little River!



And share a cup of coffee (decaf of course) with the best friend....


There was also a Smith/McLendon/Eure family photo shoot...but we can't release those just yet!

We got in so late yesterday, we were grateful to have today to rest with our family and friends.  Pictures of our Saturday of weddings to come soon!

Spring Has Finally Sprung!

It is finally warm here!!!! And take a look at two of my favorite people who are just cute as a button. I had to steal these pictures from their parents since I haven't been home in over two months...but it's coming and I absolutely can not wait to spend time with these two...and their parents! :)

It's going to be gorgeous here this weekend and we are so excited about it! We are looking forward to worshiping with our RiverStone Family on this beautiful Easter weekend. And on top of that, we are very excited about getting to see the McLendon side of the family on Sunday afternoon. A visit that is long overdue. What are your plans for this beautiful weekend?

The day after St. Pats....

So I never thought I was really one for St. Patrick's Day, but as the day went on, I realized I really missed it. We did absolutely nothing here to recognize the day and life went on as normal--all the kids had school, everyone had work, not like any of my good ole friends in the Sav. :)

After I wrote the post from my office yesterday, I came home and there was a St. Patrick's Day card in the mailbox from home. On the inside from my mom was written,
"Wish you were here to share...
Shamrock floats
Corned Beef and Cabbage
Ruben Sandwiches
Mint Girl Scout Cookies
and Going to the Parade
Can't send these things to you but we can send lots of love
and Irish blessing and that's no Blarney!"

And I was undone by the end of it. Now I do miss me some Shamrock floats (lime sherbet and sprite, which I could totally make here) but it was the realization that I missed my family. I kept getting pictures from home on my cell phone and my heart longed to be with them. So in all reality, it wasn't St. Pat's Day I was missing...it was my family...and not just my family, but the traditions that my family has instilled in me over the past 30 years. They are precious to me and I am grateful I have these beautiful memories.

It dawned on me yesterday morning that we went home right before Valentines Day so my parents home was decorated from head to toe for that holiday...since we haven't been home since, we didn't get to see it decorated for St. Pat's Day...and since we don't have it scheduled to make it home till after Easter, we won't see it decorated for that holiday either. It's these simple things that you realize mean so much when you are no longer there to partake in them.

So with that, I just want to say I miss my family. Love them a lot. And can't wait till I can see them again. I don't doubt for a second I'm 100% where the Lord has me...but still doesn't make it easy. And here are the pictures from home...I mean really, how can you not just want to jump in the car and drive 4.5 hours south...

We can't imagine our lives without you...


RIVER!

It was one year ago today that you graced us with your life! I will never forget the day your mama told me she was expecting you. This was such joyous news and we eagerly anticipated your arrival. For the next 9 months we dreamed about you. We dreamed about what you would look like. We seemed to know from the very beginning that you would be a boy who would become a man's man like your daddy....and we called you "Little Olive" in reference to Psalm 128:3, "Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your sons will be like olive shoots around your table."

Upon learning you were going to be River Caiden we have dreamed and prayed very specific prayers for you. That you would not only know of this Man Jesus that your parents speak of to you--that you would know Him and love Him with every ounce of your being. We pray and believe that you are going to be a very God fearing man that Jesus uses "For His Kingdom Come."

We love you River Caiden. We love you with all that we have. We love being a part of your life. We love seeing you grow. We love seeing all your "firsts." You are an amazing young boy already. We see strength in you. We see characteristics already that God is going to use in a mighty, mighty way.

We can't wait to celebrate with you this Saturday!

A little teaser...

Don't think I've forgotten about sharing Memorial Day with you...but I must say, with Memorial Day--it means Summer officially started--which we all know what that means if you are in Youth Ministry--on that note, just got home from a camping trip with our juniors and seniors.  It was successful--only ONE encounter with a snake :) well one real one, a few with a fake one :)  But not gonna lie, I'm really, really looking forward to Monday--which will be a day off--the first one in 9 days...

But for now, here's a few pics of my little man from our visit home during Memorial Day--Robert and I had the privilege of keeping him for a little bit one afternoon and we got to spend some quality time with him and his parents on a few occasions on this visit home--much needed!

Finally on our last day there---the SUN came out and we got some sunshine and River got some action in the hot tub --don't worry--we turned it down to a "warm" pool temperature! :)

Okay, we'll post more later--pray for us if you think of it!  We have Summer Camp counselor training tomorrow following church.  I've ordered 20 pounds of bbq to feed everyone--I really feel like some things never change in my life! :)  And one more picture..taken the other evening at our first Wednesday Night Youth of the Summer...think Cory and I are ready for summer?  Or have we lost our minds already?  :)
