Truly Blessed

We have been blessed more than we could have ever
imagined.

Lots of friends and family have come to love
on our little man
and we've loved every moment of it.

We've also been incredibly blessed by
our RiverStone family as we have
been overwhelmingly taken care of.
I haven't cooked a meal since our little man was born
and there aren't words to describe how
grateful we are for this community
the Lord has allowed us to be
apart of.

Here are a few pictures of our visitors that we've had
in our home over the past couple of weeks.
Unfortunately we didn't capture pictures
with everyone that came by to visit
or bring a meal, but here's a few to capture the love!

Kylie-who is one of my beloved triplets
from Richmond Hill-stopped by.
The beloved trio were in middle school when
I met them--now they are in
their 2nd year of college...and I have a child.
How did that happen?

The Kireta Family!

Robert "presenting" Jude
to his siblings that came up for the day.

 Our Amelia and Kayla!

This picture just makes me laugh!

Kayla and Ryan

Our Katie---we missed their wedding due to the
arrival of our little man--but they came right
over once they returned from their honeymoon
to meet the newest McLendon.
So grateful Katie put up with me being pregnant almost
the whole time she lived with us!

And her new husband--Jordan!

The Shelton's came up from Perry to visit!
Jadie and Jude

Robert and his cousin Chad are 12 hours apart...
now they have sons, 8 weeks apart.

Stryder and Jude

Kimbo came to visit!

Heather drove up from RH to meet our little man!

So grateful my cousin Joy got to meet our little one.
Her family is here in Georgia for the year while her husband
serves in Iraq.  I'm been grateful for the little
time we have gotten to spend with one another.

Joy with her little girl Ellie, and Jude

My Grace Ann

Finally got a picture with the Halletts.
They came by in the hospital, but we somehow missed
a photo opt.
Here's Cory with his little girl, Anna Claire

The Hallett Family--
we love the Hallett's and are very
grateful for them!

My sweet friend Kelli.  She also
came to see us in the hospital and we failed to
get a picture.  Here's her loving on little Jude.
I sure am going to miss her when she moves
this summer!

Thank you to everyone that has come to love
on us.  Really, there aren't words big enough
to say thank you.
Thank you for loving us and sharing in
this special time in our lives!

Jude Robert, You Are Three Weeks Old

My little man, I can hardly believe
that you are already three weeks old!

This week your Daddy went back to work
and your Grandparents went home,
so it was just me and you...
I like to think we did okay.

I love the quiet time we have together.
I love reading the Word together.
I love how you respond to worship music..

I love how in the mornings we read the Book of
John together and in the evenings (and throughout the night)
we read a combination of Psalms and Song of Songs.

I love how you continue to have the hiccups--
something you had constantly in the womb.

I love when you sneeze--
they come in threes!

I love how this week we finally had
breakthrough when it came to feeding.
We had to go get some more help
at the hospital, but it was so worth it.
You are doing so good
and I am so proud of you!

I love how you let us take your picture today
even though it was during a storm and the
lighting was not at it's best.
(We're going to try to capture some more
pictures tomorrow--I know you are thrilled!)

Your Smith grandparents came back up this
weekend to get some newborn love.
They sure do love you!

This week you became an "official"
person.  You have a social security number,
health insurance and even a college fund!

Mommy started driving again and we went to visit
Daddy at work (a couple of times!).
We went and had lunch with our
RiverStone staff.
We went to the Post Office together.
We even went to our first
play date at the park!
And when Daddy got off work one evening
our little family of three
 went and had dinner together,
did a little shopping and strolled
through Barnes and Noble.
You even had your first of I'm sure
many trips to Lowe's
with your Daddy.

You had your first experience with projectile
vomit--I think you were more traumatized than we were.
Your mommy and daddy had their first
experience with being peed on.
If you could laugh, I think you definitely would
have done so.
Speaking of, you are starting to smile
or maybe it's just a little smirk.
You are starting to make a couple of cute little noises
as well.

During the night you wake up every three hours
on the dot.  As sleepy as your mommy
is,  I'm trying so hard to drink in all this
newborn goodness.

You are the perfect gift from my Father above.
We love you Jude Robert.

One for the baby book...

Let me just start with saying that Robert and I have survived enjoyed the past three weeks of parenting by laughing...a lot.  It's what I love about my husband--he can make me laugh in any circumstance--and the Lord knew that was exactly what I needed.  And now we're a little family of three and there has been lots and lots of giggles.  At the current moment our little precious bundle of joy is "working on one" and Robert just picked him up off his lap and is currently holding him in the air off his lap.  Hilarious.

We had a day this past week that is one for the books.  Best one yet out of these past three weeks.  One worth recording--I hope you can laugh as hard as we have.

We started the evening off with watching "Life As We Know It".  We found it appropriate to watch this movie at this time in our lives as we're two people having absolutely no idea what we're doing when it comes to parenting.  We laughed our way through this movie.

Then we got everyone ready for bed.  All snuggled in our pj's, fed, diaper changed and swaddled in.  We turned off the light and not 10 seconds later we heard a noise come out of our bundle of joy, but it was the splash of something hitting the side of the pack-n-play that caught our attention.  We both jumped out of bed, quickly turned on the light, to find our little one staring wide eyed, not making a noise as if he wasn't sure what had just happened.  I picked him up to find that he had spit up all over himself...it was all over him, his hair was all matted down with throw up, and that splash we heard, yeah, it was projectile.  And Robert and I just started laughing hysterically...we. could. not. stop.

We finally calmed down, got him all cleaned up, changed out the ultimate crib sheet (thank you friends for this suggestion), changed him, swaddled him with all new blankets and we went back to bed.

Fast forward through the night time feedings to the am and we needed a good thorough bath (to get anything we may have missed during the 1am cleanup after the projectile incident).  Up until this point in our parenting our only pee incidents were him peeing on himself.  Well with bath time this am we had our first experience of pee that took aim.  ALL. OVER. ME.  I screamed....then started to laugh--he's a funny little man.  I took this as a warning for future diaper changes.

When daddy got home that evening I told him I could not wait for him to change his diaper--as our little man was now armed and dangerous....

Later that evening I was working on some projects upstairs while daddy and little buddy were having some bonding time downstairs.  Robert came up and said, "I just got peed on."  I said, "I told you..."  He said, "No, I just got peed on" and showed me his lap.  Robert wasn't even changing him and he got peed on---Jude was sitting in his lap when he had a leaky diaper incident and Robert was soaked.  All I could do was laugh.  Little man got handed off to me to clean up and change while Robert headed to the shower.  Me still laughing uncontrollably.

And now at the current moment Robert is changing him and said, "When did you have oatmeal?"  Nice.

But who could resist these chubby cheeks?

And this week we were spending good quality time working on our feeding methods---trying to transition off of the finger feeding method.  I'm pretty sure if he could talk, he was thinking, "Just give me the finger."

Love it.  Love him.  Love my little family.

St. Patrick's Day!

I realize St. Pat's day was a week ago...
and we didn't celebrate with the Savannah/Smith traditions
(green grits, corn beef and cabbage,
kids out of school, a big parade, etc.)
but we did all dress in green and have a big day!

I love this picture.  He loves his daddy!

Daddy had a job interview that morning,
so he was looking spiffy!

Katie and Ava came to visit us and brought
us a yummy dinner!
I'm looking forward to Ava and Jude becoming
great friends!

I had a follow up appointment with my doctor
and we got a picture of little Jude
with the amazing doctor that brought him
into this world.
We are very, very grateful for Dr. Bardwell.
We had a great experience being pregnant
and during delivery
thanks to him!

And here's our McCutie!

The BFF, Heather drove up to spend some time with
us!  So glad she was able to come and love on our
little man.  Can't wait for River and Jude to meet!

McMom spent the afternoon teaching
Heather and I how to make homemade
chicken and dumplings.
I know our husbands are grateful!

Lovin on my little man!

This is Maddie's
"seriously???"
look

I love Spring!
I love that our little man came during Spring!
I love the cherry blossom tree in our front yard.

Yay for Spring!
Yay for St. Patrick's Day!
