Hospital Pictures and an Update

Here's our little miracle right after birth!

At the very end of delivery, his umbilical cord wrapped around his
neck and his heart rate was not doing what it should.
Our doctor quickly vacuumed him and Robert
had to quickly cut the umbilical cord and we has whisked off
to the other side of the room to warm him up and get him to cry!

We were so grateful to hear that cry!

He was 6lbs, 9ozs at birth

because he was born so quickly,
we had some trouble getting his temperature up..
which led to mommy and jude having some
great quality snuggle time...

and while we were in the hospital, his weight
fell a little too low
and at one point reached 5lbs, 15ozs

We had to start supplementing him to try to get his weight back up
And as much as we liked our hospital room with our cute owl on the door
We were not excited that I got discharged on Monday, but he did not

On top of the weight issue, he had jaundice and we had to leave him in this
straight jacket for 3 hour periods--only to pick him up to feed him
it. was. torture.

We were thankful that even though I was released, they let us stay with him
in the same room we had been in

Finally, his jaundice was better

and his weight got up to 6lbs, 1oz
so they let us go home on Tuesday
(we checked in on Friday)

On Tuesday we went home,
and on Wednesday we had to head back to the pediatrician's office
He was still at 6lbs, 1oz.
Not great news as he didn't gain anything,
but at least he didn't lose anything.

From the pediatricians office, they sent us back to the hospital
to get help for mommy with feeding

And 5 days later (Monday) we were back in the pediatricians office....

And we are back up to our birth weight of 6lbs, 9ozs.

And he is no longer on formula.
He's a 100% breastmilk baby, but we are still
having to finger feed him
for most of it to make sure
he's getting enough!

So, so thankful to see our little man take a huge turn
and we can breathe a little easier.
Very thankful to my Jesus tonight.
He is perfect and wonderfully made!

"I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well."
Psalm 139:14
