38 weeks...and a Grand Entrance!

We all know Jude Robert is here---but we technically made it to our 38th week as he made his grand entrance on that day...so I thought I would document the last week of our pregnancy.  I didn't get the typical picture--but so wish I had taken a picture of Robert and I on that Friday night.  We were dressed up and attending a rehearsal dinner when my water broke.  If you could have only seen us walking into the hospital.  I wasn't in any pain and Robert was in khaki's, button up shirt and a blazer.  I was in a dress, tights and boots up to my knees. Not the typical hospital arrival!

Here we are at 38 weeks right before he came:

One last time, here's what babycenter had to say:

Your baby has really plumped up. She weighs about 6.8 pounds and she's over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). She has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.
Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? You may not be able to tell right away. If she's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If she's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after she's born, but they usually won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)

38 week highlights:

"To the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen." Jude 25

Our first picture as a family of three:

Thank you for following our pregnancy of Little Hoot.  I can't thank you enough for loving on us and sharing this adventure with us!  Now, Little Hoot will be referred to here on the ole blog as Jude Robert (I'm sure the name Little Hoot will come up together every once in awhile!)  And how bout this precious gift....is it perfect or what?

And one last picture---couldn't you just eat him up?

38 week highlights:

  • Cravings-held steady with Mexican and Chick-fil-a
  • Belly Button-Robert Report-full outie
  • Sleep-not great at all....but we also had some circumstances that prevented both of us from sleeping---Maddie (the basset hound) pulled a groin muscle and cried all night long....not fun!
  • Symptoms-We continued to check things off the symptoms on the "pre-labor" list and made sure all our bags were packed and ready to go!
  • Movement--just soaked in this last little bit of time having Little Hoot in my belly.  I will never forget that special time together.
  • Other 38 week highlights:  We went to our weekly doctor appointment on Friday morning (we went into labor that night).  At the doctor's appointment we discovered we were 2cm dilated and 80% effaced.  While hooked up to the fetal monitor I had 5 contractions in 30 minutes---but was in zero pain, so we went on home.
  • Best Moment of the Week:   LITTLE HOOT MADE HIS GRAND ENTRANCE!!!!  As mentioned above, my water broke at Katie & Jordan's Rehearsal Dinner--which was being held in the RiverStone Student Ministry Area--fitting if you ask me!  Don't worry-I was in the ladies room walking towards the sink when it broke, so no big mess on the carpet (this was at about 6:30pm)!  I came back out, ate dinner, then Robert and I decided we should head out.  We headed home, switched out cars, grabbed our bags and headed to the hospital.  They "tested" me to make sure our water broke--and it did and we were admitted at 7:30pm.  I was 2.5 cm dilated and they were a little concerned that my water was broken and we weren't that dilated.  At 9:30pm, they started a very low dose of pitocin and at 1:15am I was 5cm dilated and they thought it was going too fast, so they turned off the pitocin.  At 1:25am, I told my husband I had to push and so he went and got the nurse, but they were convinced there was no way since I was just at 5cm.  When she checked, I was at 10cm and ready to push.  I had to hold on for everyone to come in and get in place, then Little Hoot made his grand entrance at 1:45am and Robert looked at me and said "It's a boy!"  Such an exciting moment!  I prayed for 9 months that I would have a pain free, quick and easy labor.  Jesus answered my prayers as I was not in any pain for the majority of my labor.  The pain didn't kick in till  after they started the pitocin, but the Lord made the labor quick and I was still able to deliver naturally which was a desire of my heart.  I'm so grateful to my Lord for this precious miracle (remember when I was told I wouldn't be able to get pregnant?).  I had a terrific pregnancy and the Lord held my hand through the delivery.  I'm so grateful for this precious miracle bundle.  I am head over heels in love with my Lord Jesus, my incredible, supportive husband and my beautiful son.

You would go back and eat your dinner before heading to the hospital even though your water broke. Hilarious, but great move, b/c I didn't eat my last meal and was starving almost 24 hours when I was finally allowed to eat.
Praise Jesus for a fast and somewhat painless delivery! Can't wait to get my hands on that little Jude! love you and your family of 3! Isn't it fun to say family of 3! I still can't get enough of it!
