Dear Kairos/GAPN Intercessors:
The last weeks and months have brought us through a tremendous season of intercession and spiritual warfare as we have contended for God's guidance over our nation in the presidential election, as well as in the many other offices of government that were being decided. Additionally, there were key issues, such as the propositions in California, Arizona & Florida, defending the traditional, Biblical definition of marriage as being only between one man and one woman. (Praise God the state constitutional amendments protecting a definition of traditional marriage passed in all three states!)
Across our nation a wide gamut of emotions courses through our citizens, both among fellow-believers of Christ and non-believers. What some see as victory, others see as defeat -- such is the way with the political process we are blessed to have in our nation. And, I, for one, am very grateful to be a citizen of this great nation where we actually get to vote according to the convictions of our conscience.
Today, whether you agree or disagree with the outcomes, the Word of God stands as true and unchangeable, and we are mandated to respond accordingly in faith, hope, and love. As an encouragement, the following Scriptures are some that I believe are crucial for us in these days as we continue to intercede and engage in spiritual warfare for Christ's Kingdom and His righteousness to be advanced in our nation and around the world.
The LORD has established His throne in the heavens,And His sovereignty rules over all. Psalm 103:19
For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this. Isaiah 9:6-7
First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. I Timothy 1:1-4
Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
I Timothy 6:11b-12
Let's press on to live by the Spirit, and not according to the flesh (Gal 5:16); to be in the world, but not of it (John 17:14-16); to live according to love, and not withdraw in fear (1 Timothy 1:7); andhave faith to the preserving of the soul, and not shrink back to destruction (Hebrews 10:39). Let's be careful how we move forward in these days that we might be found standing righteously before the Lord to receive all He has prepared for us in this season (Matt 6:33).
